Mediation & Dispute Resolution
Disagreements can become difficult for all sorts of reasons.
When a business dispute becomes hard to resolve, having an independent person involved can help.
Morgain Group provides mediation for small businesses and others experiencing conflict or dispute. Mediation gives everyone involved an opportunity to talk through the issues, understand different points of view and explore whether there is a practical way forward.
Lyn Morgain AM is an accredited mediator with extensive experience helping people work through difficult situations. Her approach is calm, respectful and practical, with a focus on making sure everyone has the opportunity to be heard.
How mediation can help
Business disputes are rarely just about one issue.
Financial pressures, legal or regulatory obligations, relationships, communication and differences in power can all contribute to a disagreement becoming difficult to resolve.
Mediation provides a structured and supported way to talk about what has happened, what matters to each person and what might be possible from here.
It isn't about deciding who is right or wrong. The mediator remains independent and helps the people involved have a productive conversation and explore whether they can reach an agreement themselves.
Referred to Morgain Group?
If you've been referred to Morgain Group for mediation through the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO), you're in the right place.
Mediation is one form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Morgain Group provides mediation as part of the ADR services available through the referral pathway.
Lyn understands the pressures that small business owners can face, including financial, legal and regulatory demands and the effect unresolved disputes can have on both businesses and the people involved.
Mediation can be conducted online or in person in Victoria.
About Lyn
Lyn Morgain AM has worked for more than 30 years with people, communities, businesses and organisations experiencing pressure, conflict and crisis.
An accredited mediator and experienced facilitator, Lyn brings warmth, calm and practical judgement to difficult situations. She has a well-developed understanding of how conflict develops, including the role that relationships, communication and power can play.
Her background spans public and community safety, crisis and health settings, victim support, violence, discrimination and complex community issues.
Morgain Group takes an explicit human rights-based approach to its work.
I would trust Lyn with a conversation where people hold profoundly different positions, where relationships need to survive disagreement, or where an organisation is genuinely prepared to interrogate its assumptions. She won’t manufacture comfort where discomfort is necessary. She creates the conditions for people to think more deeply, listen differently and find a way forward that has integrity.Maria Dimopoulos AM
